PuTTY 1.0.0 is a free SSH client for the Nokia 9200 Communicator series. It contains basic SSH protocol support, terminal emulation, and a bare-bones user interface. Usage Install the SIS package normally to your communicator. When you run PuTTY for the first time, it will prompt to record a few seconds of noise using the device microphone. It is recommended that you do this, since it will provide a good source of random data for an initial random number generator seed. After this the program can be used normally - select "Connect" from the menu or the command buttons, and type in the host you wish to connect to. PuTTY will prompt you for the username and password to use after a network connection has been established. IMPORTANT SECURITY NOTE! This PuTTY version uses the SSH 1 protocol by default. SSH 1 is vulnerable to man-in-the-middle attacks if new or changed host keys are accepted without verifying them. Therefore it is very important to VERIFY ALL NEW OR CHANGED HOST KEYS before accepting them. The user interface supports two font sizes, and optionally a full-screen mode. The terminal window sizes supported are:
One PuTTY session can support only one connection, and the program must be closed before a new connection can be made. Connection errors will also cause the program to be shut down. This is caused by limitations in the original PuTTY code. New in the version 1.0.0:
NOTE! If you have installer 1.0 beta 1 or an earlier version, you must uninstall the previous version before installing this one. The installation package UID has changed, and the system will not recognize them as the same application. Download |
